NEWS: When I wake up and turn to the computer to know what is going on in the world these are the sites that I explore:
1. NYT, a solid site that has, in my opinion, great writers and substance. I get the world edition but either one provides a good source of variety amongst current events.
2. AJE, Aljazeera is most likely my favorite for worldwide current news and information for social movements. Powerful perspectives and great spatial spread.
3. HUFF, The Huffington Post is my new Drudge Report. I find the commentaries illuminating and the political pieces constructive in forming biased thoughts against people in the public domain in the US. I also like Arianna Huffington, she's sassy.
4. FB, I hate admitting it but I do check this out to see the news in peoples lives. I can make up excuses like, "I was looking to see if that person got back to me." but in reality, I find some* status updates and postings interesting. (* in reality I find most of them awful and I probably have hit the 'hide' button to over 40% of the people on facebook).
5. BAH, bah stands for a site that doesn't make me think, thesuperficial is just the place to rewind, release and move on from the startling news that you find in the first hour of the morning.
6. New, I suppose it will be this blog. If you don't contribute I will not talk to you in real life.

On Saturdays and Sundays:
The same, except I add in:
1. The economist...a bit heavy, I have been reading it for years and there are two truths one must face when trying to take on such a magazine: 1. you have to pick bits, never expect to read it from front to back, it's not US weekly or People Magazine; 2. You are not stupid, you may feel like it throughout each article but you are not stupid, the writers are just ridiculously smart, so smart they probably don't watch or care about anything other than the magazine and are awful people to go out on dates with (yes, personal experience); 3. I have a dream that one day I will be a wise old woman discussing the issues and will one day reference the economist and have a full understanding of the words that spill from my mouth...a person has to dream.
2. The New Yorker - my favorite, usually have it in print but don't get it over here on the green isle. Culture, beautiful writing and great pictures. A weekend treat.
